The beginning

I have neglected to give myself an online presence for much of my life. I have the general social media out there, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and TikTok but I’ve never really used them. This blog is being started not from a perspective of direct profit. As such I won’t subject readers of this blog to Google AdSense or other platforms. If I ever get to it I would only ever do sponsors of products I like or use. Ultimately, this is meant to track not earn. If it earns at all I will consider that a bonus. No this blog is to document what I’m doing, both to leave something to prove I existed, as well as to leave a mark online.

What is the purpose of this blog?

The purpose is to keep track of things. Give myself motivation, and find some sort of rhythm. I, like most people, thrive of some sort of structure, however, I like so many people today, struggle with keeping to that. I’m opening this blog to get this moving in the right direction. I’m making a mark of some sort. Is this going to be a big mark or a little dot is yet to be determined, but honestly, doesn’t matter.

Do you have a plan?

A mild one. Write every day. Hopefully posting something about progress I’ve made. Schedule content if I have to, but don’t let a day go by where I don’t write. I have three major projects right now in my life and this is going to take the lead on both and help me stay account able.

What are the three projects?

  1. Advance my career. This can look like in my current role, this could look like changing roles to a better position/company/career path. Only time will tell for sure.
  2. Share stories. game dev, writing, whatever methods I can. This could end up inline with 1 and that’s okay. It could be I make a few and that’s it. I have stories to tell so I’m going to tell them.
  3. Expand my hobbies. Yeah, I think that’s important. How do we relax? With hobbies. Now of course this is vague. There are several I’d like to get into but only time will tell what I can get into. I have a 1000 sim racing rig (that I bought the pieces on sale… and it still cost that much) which to enthusiasts or other sim racers may seem cheap, but its not as cheap as it could be. I’ve also gotten into coffee and espresso, and while I don’t have the most high end machine, just a Breville Barista Express and Fellow Opus grinder, it still was nearly 900 Retail (I spent around 740) so I mean that’s a significant investment to.

Will you include images?

I hope to, but I’m not much of a photographer nor UI/UX designer or anything like that. I’ll let what happens happen.

What are your first steps for your three projects?

  1. Career
    • Get certifications in Kubernetes, AWS (I just earned my Solutions Architect – Associate, but I have more to go), Terraform, and pursue a better understanding of Java, Python, Javascript, and C#. These are all relative to my current job and are fairly standard in the industry I’m in.
  2. Stories
    • Giving a shot at a novel
    • Giving a shot at game development
    • Possibly even music…. who knows
  3. Hobbies
    • No plans right now. This is more organic.

With all that said, this is your friendly neighbor signing off.
