First Act: Gaining Capital

The first challenge in my journey in my opinion is getting enough capital to purchase the assets and tools I need to create what I’m after. Of course I have a day job, and it pays the bills, and then a little. I have decided to max out of pocket 1000 dollars for this. I have purchased 7 pieces of art, a template, logo design, and frames for one of my games. That puts me around the 400 range. I’m thinking I’m at max budget for that game. I don’t want to spend much/any more money on that. For me the web hosting is basically free, I do pay, but it’s 15 a quarter, and honestly that’s not a bad deal. The domains I own cost me around 80 a year spread throughout so really I’m only paying around 140 a year for all my websites (most of which I don’t use but I don’t wanna give up the domain names on). This all begs the question, what will I do with my art to get more money?

I have a few options.

  1. Kickstart
  2. Get a loan
  3. Side hustle to add money to that (After all if I can side hustle within the 600 extra, then by all means I am within my idea)
  4. Sell some stuff
  5. Ask for donations/angel funding

Well, kickstart likely would need more assets and more done to get off the ground, so that’s out. I’m trying to pay down debt, not get new debt. Loans are out of the question. A side hustle isn’t a bad idea I just have to sharpen a couple skills and I think that’s reasonable. Sell some stuff, I only have so much I can sell and I use a lot of it. I don’t have many friends or family with extra cash in this economy and I don’t have a rich friend so definitely not something I’m able to do, much less be interested in so that leaves me with a bit of a problem. But as I mentioned, I have some art. I have art I have the right to sell printed and distribute. I’m making a store front for my business. I’m using Printify to print on demand onto Mugs, posters, coasters, and notebooks. With a storefront I can also setup a basic “Hey if you wanna be nice and give something towards this checkout here” as well as sell any completed games. This is what I am going to work on for now. Tomorrow is hopefully a tech update.
